Hello again,

Tammy Frohlich-Salis – Camp Consultant

We are delighted to inform you that Tammy Frohlich-Salis will be returning this summer as our Consultant on YCC Staff Development and Training.

Tammy, a former YCC Assistant Director, is presently the School Counsellor at ‘The Study’, and has a private practice as a Psycho-Therapist, specializing in adolescents and young adults.

Tammy is married to Mitch Salis, and is the mother of two adorable kids, Talia and Justin.

This summer, in collaboration with Sid and the camp’s leadership team, Tammy will be running training sessions for our camp counsellors, and will be providing them with the strategies and tools needed in making every day special for each of our campers.

Tammy’s professionalism, experience, and sense of fun have made her very much appreciated and respected by our supervisors and counsellors.

It’s great to have her back!

NEW – Camper Activities Form

In order to provide our campers with more of their preferred activities at camp, we are asking you to provide us with the 4 favourite activities that your child would ideally like to have more of this summer.

Each family will be receiving an email in the next few days which will give you the opportunity to view the activities offered at YCC, and to reply to Rabin ( YCC Associate Director) with your selections.

Looking forward to an AWESOME summer!

Sid and Rabin

Hello again……

Last week I talked about how I am so excited about spending time at camp with all of our new campers and staff who will be joining us for the first time.

Well, as of this past Saturday, April 17 at 2:45 a.m., we are now able to officially announce a warm YCC welcome to our youngest camper – Livia Eryn Rabinovitch. This beautiful little girl is the daughter of our Associate Director, Stephen (Rabin) and his wife Miriam – who met at YCC! Very excited is their Golden Doodle- Madden – who has adjusted perfectly as the “big brother” – he’s very protective and completely dedicated to the new addition.

As for me, people have wished me “mazal tov” , and referred to me as Uncle Sid, Zaydah Sid, and Godfather Sid.

Having known Rabin and Miriam since they were campers in my first year as YCC Director in 1994, I guess I am a bit of all of the above.

Whatever I’m called, I have already added ‘part-time babysitter” to my job description as camp director for the coming summer!

….just another reason why I can’t wait for the summer……only 68 days left ‘till camp!

See you soon,

Sid

Hi Everyone,

Now that the snow has finally melted ( even up at camp!), it seems that camp is just around the corner, with everyone getting really excited about the upcoming summer at YCC.

Except for one or two positions, our entire staff has been hired, and we are especially delighted about Rabbi Abby Sosland, who will be joining us for the first time.

Abby will be our new Jewish Educator, taking over the role that Mark Fishman handled so well last year. Abby, who is a graduate of Harvard and the Jewish Theological Seminary, is a teacher at the Solomon Schecter High School in New York. Aside from an extensive camping background in leading canoe trips, Abby was a dancer with an Israeli dance ensemble for several years. Her fun and friendly personality and her extensive and diverse professional background, should make her “Ask the rabbi “ sessions especially exciting!

Aside from meeting the many new campers who will be with us for the first time this summer, I am really looking forward to “hanging out” at our new floating dock. One of the incredible new programs will see the Trippers preparing chocolate chip/marshmallow pancakes on the dock in the middle of the lake – I can’t wait!

See you soon!

Sid

Hi from YCC!

One of the most exciting aspects of this time of year at the YCC camp office is the continual flow of staff applicants who come through our doors. Sharing special memories of this past summer, and talking about new and creative ideas for the coming summer, gets us all even more excited for “YCC /Summer 2010”!

We are especially delighted to welcome back Bram Gonshor – last year’s Head of Video – in his new role as Head of our Music Program. Bram and his staff will be leading song sessions, teaching guitar to campers at all levels and ages; and running sing-a-longs at the nightly bonfires and overnights.

Please check the YCC website for a complete listing of the staff hired so far…..

In the coming weeks Sid and Rabin will be attending several “parlour meetings” at the homes of YCC families in Cote St. Luc and Dollard des Ormeaux, to introduce YCC to new families in an informal, personal setting. If you’d like to join us, or know a family who would be interested – please call Elana at the camp office for more information – (514) 737-6551, ext. 267.

Fashion Show 2010 – We are very pleased to announce that Meagan Reinish and Erica Schneiderman are the Co-Producers of the 2010 YCC/Camp Koby Fashion Show.If your child (grades 4 and up) is interested in being part of our annual Fashion Show/Dance Fundraiser, please get in touch with Stephen (‘Rabin’) at the camp office – (514) 737-6551, ext. 516. This terrific program – which connects YCC campers and staff during the winter months – will be taking place at the end of March – exact date to be soon……”So you think you can dance, YCC!!!!!”

A reminder that Early Bird Registration ends in December – if you have any comments or questions, please contact either Sid ( sid) or Stephen (srabinovitch) , or call us at the camp office – we’d love to hear from you.

Hi from YCC!

There’s always something new and exciting happening at YCC!  Even when it’s not summer, we’re planning awesome programs, building cool new places & adventures, hiring incredible staff and re-uniting with YCC campers and new families at ‘parlour meetings’ throughout the city.

We’re especially pleased that Stu Guttman (Assistant Director in charge of Senior Side) Sara Abrams (Junior Side Program Director), and Marcy the Camp Mother will be joining us again for ‘Summer 2010’. Stu, Sara and Marcy represent the ideal YCC staff person – friendly, experienced, creative, and the ability to make special connections with campers, staff and parents.

An exciting new addition to our waterfront program is the new “Floating Dock”, which will be a super fun place to hang out, go diving, sunbathe, or dock your canoe, located between Jr. and Sr. Beach. What a great way for kids of all ages to get the most out of our ‘kid-friendly’ waterfront programs.

Our 2009 Yearbook will be out in a couple of months, with great pictures and reminders of last year’s incredible summer – keep checking our Website and we’ll let you know as soon as they’re available.

Fashion Show 2010 – If your child (grades 4 and up) is interested in being part of our annual Fashion Show/Dance Fundraiser, please get in touch with Stephen ( ‘Rabin’) at the camp office – (514) 737-6551, ext. 516. This terrific program – which connects YCC campers and staff during the winter months – will be taking place at the end of March – everyone who auditions is included, even if you will not be at YCC this summer.

A reminder that Early Bird Registration ends in December – if you have any comments or questions, please contact either Sid ( sid@ymywha.com) or Stephen (srabinovitch@ymywha.com) , or call us at the camp office – we’d love to hear from you.
